I just finished part 1 & on a completely un-MWC-related note, I love that they ask and he talks about things like Cruising & Farrell for the People. I just finished Valerie Harper's book & she talks about working with him on that show. When TV worlds collide...

Cool! (I want to read her book too) That is the advantage of such long interviews, being able to hear questions that wouldn't normally get answered without having to plug something.
I haven't watched it yet...

Halfway through Part 2 & oh boy, I had no idea about the hostility between Ed & Amanda.
Also, it's interesting what he thinks the reason for the cancellation was. On all the specials I've seen on MWC, they've never brought that point up.
"Where would Al be today?" Sigh. Make this reunion happen!

Yes, the format of this interview is how all should be. He can just say what he wants - no time constraints, no editing, no BS.marriedaniac wrote:Cool! I don't have time to watch that video right now, but am dying to know what you are referring to. Could you sum it up a little before I get the time to watch the whole thing?? It's the first I've EVER heard of any hostility between cast members of MWC.ButterWanker wrote:Halfway through Part 2 & oh boy, I had no idea about the hostility between Ed & Amanda.

Nevermind, I skipped to the second part.
I...Am...Shocked!!!!!!!! Never, EVER, have I heard about this tension between him and Amanda before. I don't think anyone of us have, am I correct in assuming that? My God, I thought they all got along just fine and being best buddies. I guess Amanda was kind of "outside" the group then, or at least with Ed. That must have been frustrating for the two of them since she directed so many episodes.
Still watching it. Shocked!
Anyone else?

I'm glad someone else also had this reaction!
I was shocked too & I had the same thought about her directing him & essentially being his boss on set. I had only heard about how well the cast got along (except for Christina having been sensitive to Ed's jokes early on & having gotten over it) & had no idea. It seems like it was between Amanda & Ed & maybe a little bit with David too (since he didn't get invited to the wedding either?).
Amanda was on a reality competition show Katey Sagal hosted in 2006 as a guest director for a challenge (Search for America's Funniest Mom) & she introduces her as "my friend Amanda" so I think they might still be OK.

Interesting take on the cancellation. LOVE to hear that he's up for a reunion, despite having a dream gig with Modern Family. Also interesting to hear they were set to do one if only Christina hadn't said no.

Well, this has been enlightening! Lots of great stuff.
The Amanda thing is truly intriguing. The most I've ever heard about any hostility between the actors is what was said in the reunion special and its outtakes. I even thought he was talking about Marcy at first when he said she changed from more feminine to more masculine... but they must have been okay with each other and respectful enough of each other to freaking work together for a decade!
Would LOVE to hear Amanda's side of the whole thing.
Ed's horrible with remember names, isn't he?
