Why "976"-Shoe

Post by Daniel » Fri May 23, 2008 8:01 am

Hi!

Can anybody of you tell me why this episode is called 976-Shoe and not 555-Shoe?
I'm sure there is an easy explanation behind that, but for me it makes no sense.

I think it has something to do with toll/toll free prefix numbers.

:) You stole this question from me! ;) I wrote it on the episode thread for season 4. I wondered the same thing.

Earlier, 976 numbers used 976 as a local prefix, though it was not assigned to a specific telephone exchange like other prefixes. These numbers were dialed as any other local number, such as 976-1234.
