Particularily because Europe doesn't have so many fu*ked up people, and no shows like Springer (with topics like "My girlfriend is cheating on me with my father").
Please don't say that! Remember America's got 300 million people. The Jerry Springer show features a very small slice of the populace. I've lived here for 29 years and I can tell you I do not spend my days bumping into Springer's guests.

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. What I meant is, the United States have a very diverse population, and by this I mean that 90% of all the people are regular folk, but the remaining 10% are "screwed up". They have serious problems, but instead of seeking professional help, they go on shows like Springer.

This is why many people think that Americans are only fat, stupid, lazy, problematic people - because they watch shows like Springer. I hate Springer. Springer Springer Springer.

That's just them wanting some fame and be on TV, doesn't mean they need professional help. But I bet 10% of every country's people need some professional help one way or another.

In my opinion, they need help if they wanna get famous by appearing on a show like this.
But I bet 10% of every country's people need some professional help one way or another.
Yep, but only in the US they go on appearing on talk-shows.

Not really, it's just in their culture. If shows like that opened in every country I bet they wouldn't be cancelled because there weren't enough people willing to appear on a show like that.

It's easy to criticize a country and call the people stupid when it's the most known country in the world and gets a lot of exposure, of course not all of it is going to be normal. If Poland had 300 million people and got as much exposure as America does we would be saying the same thing about Poland.

Well, I hope someday your estimates reduce. Axel's right. We get a lot of bad exposure. I can't blame you entirely. You send us Kosciuszko and Pulaski and we send you Springer! Please believe me when I say there is an entire American culture that is seldom seen in movies or on tv. Where oh where are you Frank Capra?

I've no problems with shows like springer and my favorite Maury (or what I'd call him 'happy family destroyer' :) - does he do anything else than DNS-Analysis?). If there are people watching it then let them watch that kind shows. I always watched them when I've been in the states. It's funny (and sad at the same time) what people are doing.

And if there hasn't been one of this tv-stations trying to send something which may offend some people than we would'nt have MWC.
but the remaining 10% are "screwed up".
Sad but true - I think that's what the most people think.
Maybe it's true maybe not. But somethimes I would even say that 20% here in Europe (let me redefine: in Austria) are "screwed up".

I've a small problem. I haven't bought season nine yet. I thought this episode was in an earlier season.
But I'll have a look as soon as I've bought it.

i know i'm about a year late but i was a yank that spent two years in germany. all the germans i met could speak english. i was an army truck driver, and not the best. i stopped and asked for directions everytime i got lost. if you ask a brit the germans "english" is better than a yanks. i was helped everytime. i hope to make it back to germany some day as a vacation/tourist. i missed so much of it working. but i'm probably just like al would be. the thing i miss most from germany? kurrywurst and ansbach mit coke. didn't drink beer at the time.

I agree. German dubb sucks. In Polish TV we have voice over (reader) - lektor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8LIgd4IT04 ; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyUElFtPIi4 but translation is good. Translation by Artur Nowak; Reader by Tomasz Knapik. Subtitles is better than dubbing or voice over. I always watching MWC on DVD with Polish subtitles.

Are you serious? I saw an Alf episode once with the polish voice over. Episodes like that are the biggest crap I've seen on TV yet. No matter what kind of character is talking, either male or female, you have one male polish guy say the lines a few seconds after the characters said them. And he says them in a deadpen way, with no emotion.

But you need to realise one thing. The dubbing only sucks as long as you don't know the original versions. When I first saw MWC in Germany, I had no way of getting the original episodes. DVD's weren't invented then and the Internet was in its infancy.

And although I prefer the original, the german dubbing is NOT BAD. Most things are translated correctly, only some word plays had to be changed and names of TV shows had to be replaced with names of german shows that are equally bad ^^

Maybe you're right.

No, I haven't watched MWC in Czech, because I wouldn't understand a thing

The german voice for Al was a man called RĂ¼diger Bahr.
