What, you guys missed that part of the episode? That's one of the funniest things about it! :) I absolutely love Dutch, John Landis sure knew how to make comedies.

You mean John Hughes, right?
Dutch flopped big time, and he stopped being Ed's friend after that. (Well, went back on his promise to do more projects together, at least.)

And I also can't believe you guys missed the joke in that episode. :!:
How about 0624: "Oh please. They show us the movie Dutch and they think I stink?"

Really? Did he say that they had more projects in mind for the future or something? Cuz those kind of things do change.

I know Dutch flopped, which baffles me because it has all the traits of a holiday classic. It's hilarious, damn it!

According to the biography special on EON they made a big deal about Hughes dropping Ed as a friend after the movie flopped. The kid from Dutch thought the problem was just bad marketing. I agree. Nothing wrong with the movie. I have a feeling it'll become more known over time.

I understand perhaps putting projects on hold because this movie flopped, but ending the friendship? I don't see why he'd do that.

Cause Hughes was a sucky friend.

In an interview he did in 1994 (around Little Giants time), Ed said he and John Hughes planned to do all these things together (like mentioned in the Biography) and after Dutch failed, nothing. Not a word, just cut all ties altogether and never heard from him again.
